Successful live-Presentation of our new product DIGIBAU

26.11.2021

World premiere of the DIGIBAU helmet camera system

The DIGIBAU helmet camera system was presented to the international public for the first time at BIM World 2021 in Munich. Together with TeamsWare, Darmstadt University and PMG Projektraum, Open Experience presented the innovative system for recording 360° on November 23rd and 24th-Pictures on the construction site.

With DIGIBAU, continuous and chronologically traceable 360° documentation becomes a reality during daily construction inspections. At the fair, the new product with all accessories was exhibited for the first time and the visitors also tested the system for themselves with great enthusiasm. The construction helmet with integrated image acquisition module and LED-Lighting is controlled via the developed DIGIBAU app, and so using the construction plan of the trade fair at various points on the exhibition area, pictures were taken live with the interested parties using the high-quality wide-angle camera system and in the gallery of the construction photo-App presented. In order to reduce the weight of the helmet, the battery was designed to be worn on a belt and many interested parties wanted to convince themselves of the lightness of this module. The entire system is packaged safely and robustly in an ideal transport solution, a high-quality case with an integrated power supply unit for charging, which of course could also be examined at the stand.

Due to Corona, the event took place under special conditions. Nevertheless, we were able to establish enormous interest in the DIGIBAU system. The presentation of the helmet was a great success for us. During the numerous discussions we were able to gain new inspiration for the further development of DIGIBAU and we are looking forward to next year when DIGIBAU will then be used on numerous construction sites. Here are a few impressions from the ICM.

A vision becomes reality ESKIMO

The ESKIMO research project is in the implementation phase

The innovative concepts for the construction site of tomorrow are now becoming a reality. And new challenges await. A little review: Since April 2020, the ten partners of the ESKIMO project have been working on the three planned project pilots with their respective basic technologies. The team at Open Experience deal with the automated support of technical quality assurance. The Munich project space-Manufacturer PMG is leading the work on the pilot as part of the project-Module for commercial quality assurance. The German-French IT-Consulting Actimage develops together with the construction logistics-Experts from Frankfurt Economics developed an innovative prototype for the automatic support of construction logistics-Planners. The decisive phase has now begun: The first results of the basic technology modules are available, now the project pilots based on them can be implemented. The basic modules of the project were created by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology(KIT), Fraunhofer IOSB and the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. The KIT provides a module for image recognition that is intended to recognize different situations on the construction site. Since a sufficiently large training course for the successful training of complex image recognition processes- and test data volume is required, the active support of the application partners of the project, the construction company Karl Gemünden GmbH & Co. KG and Ed. Züblin AG, a crucial role. They created a large image database with annotated images, which provides the basis for the image recognition algorithms. The scientists from Fraunhofer IOSB and the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences are working on the topic of real-time position detection. The IOSB is particularly concerned with a module for the topological comparison of BIM-Model and reality. Darmstadt University is working on real-time-Position determination with the help of sensor technology to optimize construction processes. Since the last project update in March, both research partners have completed the first prototypes of their work, which are already delivering promising results. In the next few months the partners of the ESKIMO project will try to merge the developed modules into the three project pilots. After that, the first tests should be carried out on the construction site and with real data. So it remains exciting!

Halftime for ESKIMO

15.06.2021

That from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research(BMBF) Funded research project ESKIMO has been working on the question of how the construction site of tomorrow can be supported with artificial intelligence for almost a year. Time for a mid-term review.

In April 2020 the ESKIMO project was officially kicked off-Started off. Three project pilots are being developed as part of ESKIMO. The Open Experience team deal with automated support for technical quality assurance. Within the last few months, detailed concepts for the implementation of the planned scenarios have been developed and the first proof-of-Concept-Implementations developed. A central part of all project pilots are image recognition algorithms that have been developed with the support of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology(KIT) implemented. A sufficiently large training course is important for the successful training of complex image recognition processes such as ANNs- and test data volume. This data is processed together with the application partners of the project, the construction company Karl Gemünden GmbH & Co.KG and Ed. Züblin AG, collected and processed. In the meantime, over 200,000 image recordings have been made and the first results of the image recognition algorithms, which have been trained on the basis of the data, are already showing promising results. Also central for ESKIMO-Developments are the modules for real-time position detection developed by scientists from Fraunhofer IOSB and the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. The IOSB is working on a module for the topological comparison of BIM-Model and reality. Darmstadt University is working on real-time-Position determination with the help of sensor technology to optimize construction processes. The Technical University of Darmstadt(TUD) accompanies the project from an ergonomic perspective. The ESKIMO project is designed for a total of two years of research. The half-time result shows that many of the ideas have great potential and are on a promising path. Nevertheless, there is still a lot to do, so that the next year will definitely remain exciting! We will report regularly on the current status over the further course of the project.

IHK event on "Digitization in construction- and real estate industry "

On June 4, 2019, the real estate jour fixe took place in the IHK Frankfurt on the topic of "Digitization in construction- and real estate industry- Digital Immigrant or Digital Native? "The question that was discussed here was what added value new technologies offer companies and whether they still have some catching up to do in terms of big data, business intelligence or the level of automation, or are even ready for it at all. Will BIM, cloud computing and networked work prevail in the construction industry in the long term? For this purpose, experts from science and research were invited to Frankfurt, who, after the welcoming remarks by Mr. Sebastian Trippen, Managing Director of the Economic Policy and Metropolitan Development Business Area of the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gave them an insight into digitization in construction-and real estate industry gave. Prof. Dr.-Ing.Sven Rogalski, head of the AWA research group in the electrical engineering and information technology department at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, gave an overview of the challenges, trends and developments in the division. Managing directors of various small and medium-sized companies such as Mr. Krahtov then gave an insight into practice(Open Experience GmbH) on the subject of “Research meets business: Of data-via process management to building information modeling(BIM)“Or Dipl. Ing. Tim Gemünden(Karl Gemünden GmbH & Co. KG), who talks about the topic of “Digitization in Project Development-BIM in practice ”gave a lecture. After further interesting lectures by Dr. Marc Gille-Sepehri(Thing Technologies GmbH) and Mr Ruby Fathzani, AS + P Albert Speer & Partner GmbH, the successful event ended in a cozy get-away after a round of discussion on the introductory question of whether the construction industry is more of a digital immigrant or a digital native-Togehter.

Review of the Building Information Modeling conference, 12.-February 13, 2019, Vienna

On February 12 and 13, 2019, the 1st imh specialist conference “Building Information Modeling” took place in the Hotel Schani in Vienna, attended by numerous experts from the construction industry. In order to advance the digital processes and to learn from the experiences of the renowned speakers, there was intensive exchange for two days and discussions on topics such as BIM in practice, its benefits and potential, or the legal aspects of a BIM tender . On the first day of the conference, Mr Krahtov, Managing Director of Open Experience GmbH, gave a lecture on the topic of Construction 4.0 and outlined the digital transformation of the construction industry and the resulting opportunities and challenges in the course of digitization Digitization will fundamentally change markets and business processes across all sectors and support is therefore expected and demanded from the public sector. In addition, the participants shared the opinion that the establishment of the modeling is still largely in closed-BIM-Processes will take place, as the implementation of a cross-software working method including the inclusion of various planning tools still appears difficult. The transfer of the Closed-BIM in Open-BIM processes will become reality in the future due to the requirements of clients and BIM will not be stopped, even if digitization in the construction industry is still progressing comparatively slowly and has some catching up to do.

BIM-capableDefect management

12.03.2017

The increasingly widespread digitization of the construction industry is already taking an enormous amount of time for everyone involved-, Costs- and work quality benefits. The provision of current data and information is based on standardized models(BIM) the decisive point for the successful implementation of both internal and cross-company processes. The harmonious process on site on the construction site turned out to be particularly difficult, especially the interaction between 3D models and data management systems on mobile devices. There are IT-Concepts are required which at the same time enable simple, understandable but also quick and ergonomic mobile operation. The company Open Experience GmbH has these software-technical hurdles with the latest development of a BIM-capable defect management overcome. The new functionality will be presented for the first time at the Bau 2017 trade fair from January 16 to 21 in Munich. A simple 3D-Location of defects and other relevant points on the construction site, an assignment to the corresponding BIM-Objects, an automated classification according to the location structure and a bidirectional BIM-based communication with partners was implemented. The first pilot customers are confident that the new functionality can not only close gaps in the continuous, digital data transmission, but will also enable a qualitatively new, integrated way of working in the collection and distribution of information from construction operations.

Build in thegroup

Building in a group- Information portal

New houses and apartments are being built in BahnStadt, Bruchsal. Here you will find interactive options for assemblies-Get to know the project as well as a reservation function for the desired property.

Building together has meanwhile also become popular in Germany and has long since left the ideological corner of the socialist collectives and the endlessly grassroots democratic "cereal crunchers". With the examples: Freiburg-Vauban, Tübingen-French Quarter, Karlsruhe-Geroldsäcker can now also be found some prominent examples in Baden-Württemberg. The Dutch, Danes and Austrians have been practicing building groups for a long time as a living expression of citizen participation in modern urban development.

Building groups strengthen the social mix in neighborhoods in the long term and are equally interesting for low-wage earners, the "classic house builder" and wealthy builders. The combination of a high degree of creative freedom, identification with the quarter and a long-term interest in the location create innovation potential, which often becomes pioneers in urban development and has an impact on other quarters. The desire to live in your own four walls and no longer in uniform satellite towns in front of the gates of the core city with long journeys to the city can often be realized in an inner-city building group project in a much more individual and cost-effective way than with classic apartments-/ Buying a house or as a lone builder.

With the development concept "Wohnen am Saalbachpark" we are putting this idea into practice in the construction site 3 b North in the BahnStadt Bruchsal. An experienced team of architects and project developers is designing the new quarter at Saalbachpark together with interested clients. Based on the existing building plan and the specifications of the city of Bruchsal, we will work with you to develop your individual living concept, which you can implement both in the storey apartment adapted to your needs and in an individual townhouse.

On-line-Sampling

01.03.2014

The automated sampling and processing of special requests is developing into a new dimension. Based on the construction phases, the dates for completing parts of the sampling can be set. The dates are linked to the construction phases and can be set individually for each construction area, for example for electrical planning or specifying the buyer's special requests. This ensures that buyers have as much time as possible for sampling.

Notifications are sent regularly via E-Mail sent so that the buyer does not lose track of the steps ahead. For this purpose, E-Mail-Templates are used so that the administration effort for the project manager remains as low as possible.

So E-Mail-Notifications about upcoming appointments are sent fully automatically. If the sampling is not completed by the specified date, the missing units can even be completed automatically using a predefined configuration.

The buyers receive transparent information about the sampling status. Corresponding information is displayed on the start page for this purpose.

Furthermore, to avoid execution errors, the sampling results per room are available in a PDF that can be called up at any time-Document summarized.

No more clutter on the construction site

The new "instant message" function from "onlineBauabname" makes it possible

The "instant message" function was implemented to notify subcontractors and partners about urgent matters on the construction site. It can be used immediately by all users at no additional cost. A safety deficiency or garbage is discovered on the construction site. The site manager or foreman takes a photo of it in a few simple steps and adds handwritten annotations to the picture. A corresponding E-Mail with a legally binding document sent to the responsible company.

Fit forMajor construction projects

01.06.2013

The "online construction acceptance" service is now ready for large-scale construction projects

In order to meet current inquiries, the "online construction acceptance" service has been thoroughly revised and adapted for use in large-scale construction projects. The most important functions that have been newly implemented are the detection of defects in the "offline"-Mode and the management of up to several thousand defects during their entire life cycle. This further development makes the use of the online building acceptance service useful for almost all building projects beyond residential construction.

The “online sampling” service with a customer-friendly configuration interface

For the first time it is possible that the complex configuration of the sampling and special requests for housing projects is carried out solely by the responsible site managers. A configuration interface offers the option of entering all relevant data and information via a website.

Tabular entries can be prepared as usual in a spreadsheet program such as MS Excel and then uploaded to the "online sampling" service. Alternatively, the data can of course also be entered directly via the user interface.

If data is accidentally lost, the versioning functionality is available to users. Any previous version can be restored with a click of the mouse.

A complex verification mechanism ensures that the data entered correspond to the internal software logic. Understandable messages are generated in the event of inconsistencies.

Small support mechanisms are particularly time-saving: Images are assigned automatically, previews are generated and the floor plans can be conveniently edited graphically. Floor plans are integrated into the system in one go.

Entry into the mobile world - online

The handover of apartments involves one or more on-site inspections with the participation of the owner, site manager, appraiser and client. Often many deficiencies are identified that the responsible subcontractors have to correct in the shortest possible time. The documentation of the identified defects is usually laboriously on paper. They are subsequently typed in for further digital processing and the photos taken are assigned manually. This process is error-prone and time-consuming.

Open Experience saw optimization potential here and developed a mobile web application together with partners from the construction industry, with the help of which defects can be quickly identified on site. The deficiencies are recorded as text with a self-learning suggestion generator. A photo taken on site or a section of the floor plan is attached. These can be conveniently provided with annotations. Subcontractors or third parties can find the defects independently.

The documented defects are automatically recorded in the relevant documentation as a log, request for improvement, etc., which could be sent directly as an email via the mobile device, if necessary. Since the service was implemented with web technologies, all common mobile devices can be used.

The use of the "online construction acceptance" service for the acceptance process results in considerable advantages and improvements. The necessary work steps are accelerated, some can even be omitted, such as the subsequent assignment of the subcontractors to the defects. The administrative effort was reduced by the high degree of automation and possible errors are avoided. In summary, the acceptance processes are designed professionally with the help of the "online construction acceptance" service.

On-line-Sampling

01.10.2012

online sampling starts with one of the most representative construction projects in Karlsruhe

The 180 meter long building on the Ludwig-Erhard-Avenue 8-14 is divided into four house units. Shops and restaurants can be found on the ground floor, above it are high-quality offices on the 1st floor, and comfortable condominiums on the other upper floors of houses A, B, C and D. From the apartments you can enjoy the wonderful view of the Esplanade and the green City Park or over the boulevard of the city.
